BURGHUL (CRACKED WHEAT) WITH TOMATOES

Recipe: BURGHUL or Bulgur Cracked Wheat (برغل على بندورة) WITH TOMATOES

Summary: GOOD WITH A PLAIN YOGURT OR SERVE IT INSTEAD OF RICE.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups coarse gurghul
  • 2 large onions chopped finely
  • 3/4 cup oil
  • 5 cups water
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 4 tablespoons tomato paste

Instructions

Rinse and drain burghul. Cook the onions in oil until golden brown. Add the burghul and cook for 2 minutes. Add the rest of the ingredients. Mix well and cook until it start to boil. Cover the pot and let it cook til the water almost gone and the burghul is cokoked.
